*new door*

{today, our new front door was installed! what a difference! i'm in love with it all...i wanted to jump up and down when i walked outside. next week, the painting begins...the house will no longer be a yellowish color...it will be a grey green color (for my friends who have benjamin moore paint decks..it's #HC 101 hampshire gray). you see those ugly dented and rusting louvered shutters well those are NOT staying....they will be taken down and replaced with bright white board and batten ones....like these...

{without the decorative "hold backs"}

and we are playing around with the idea of staining the front door...something like a dark walnut...or painting it a copper-ish color....hmmmmm}

gorgeous. i LOVE the lines. so clean & crisp... just adding 1 of those elements would be a nice touch, much less ALL of it.

i get excited about transformations, too! An old neighbor & I used to joke that we wanted to walk around the neighborhood leaving anonymous post-its on doors with some ideas for "sprucing things up". (i.e. "The hanging basket is crooked because it can't hang from that vertical wrought iron piece. Plus the plant is dead, so maybe just do away with it altogether.") I can't help it, my mind just works that way. But I'll just put it to use sprucing my own house up. :)

thank you! we are very happy to have a new door, our old door had no appeal to the house and gave very little light into our living room.

i had to laugh out loud about your idea of giving "ideas" to your neighbors....my husband and i would LOVE to do that around our neighborhood! we go on our daily walks at night and always make comments like those....haha

glad i could make you laugh! :) have you heard of the website "rate my space"? i found it almost a year ago when looking for ideas for our "cape cod colonial" house. i think HGTV has now taken it over... it's so fun. people submit photos of their homes (interior, exterior, gardens, etc.) & you can rate them (1-5 stars) & give suggestions, comments, etc.

soooo perfect for those who need help or, like us, want to lend our help! :) i've never commented on it, but enjoy looking at people's design struggles & reading everyone's suggestions! great time-killer.
