*our week w/jen*

{so i didn't really tell you all that i was leaving for most of the week...oops...time got away from us. b and i took the pups on a road trip....

since he had some extra time off, we decided to go and see my sister jen and her husband...
{this is their new house...they recently moved onto the quantico base...isn't it cute? they have a fenced in back yard with a detached garage and tons and tons of storage! talk about nice military housing huh?}

{...so while we were there...we got to do quite a number of exciting things....but the most exciting and memorable event of the whole trip was this......

...yup...b and i got to go to jen's ultrasound with her. this was amazing! i nor b had ever gone to one before. at first they were just showing us the top of the head...that actually was the whole point of the visit....to get the diameter of the head. but then...the lady showed us the rest of her. you typically see this type of picture when someone shows you their ultrasound picture right? well...that is what i thought i would just see....then we got to see her foot and her foot kicked while we were looking at it...but then there she was...she actually turned a couple times towards the "wand/camera" and it was like she was looking right at us. that was amazing! the cutest part of it was when she yawned the same time jen did. so sweet!}

{up next on our list of things to do...paint that nursery!! when b and i walked into the room...the first thing he said is...we need to paint. as you can see...it's just white. don't get me wrong..white is fine...but we are all about color in this household....so....we painted...

...since jen couldn't help us paint, she insisted on helping us tape off the room....

{left to right: myla aka: meme is jenny's dog...then arden and in the back...noah}

our dogs....they really wanted to be apart of the whole process but we made them wait outside the room...

{do you remember this post? i asked you to guess what they were....well this is what we were working on before we drove up....birds. these birds were cut out by my dad and then he sent them to us to sand, paint and put together. it's like a mobile without being an actual mobile. we did the same for Victoria's room when she was little and to this day...she still loves her birds. my older sister and i agree that these birds are not just for babies...so it's a growing gift.}

{another project we did while visiting was adding more elements to the nursery....like "sweet pea"...these will be hung above the changing table. it's a nickname that our dad used...i think he used it mainly on jen...so it makes sense to "pass" the nickname down.}

{here you can see the light green paint color that we used for the walls...we added this shelf so that jen could eventually add some small out-of-the-way items. you probably recognized the bibs...yes those are also a project that i worked on before the visit. i brought three for jen...she really liked them...so much we hung them on display for now.}

{we had a really good time with jen and chad...it was hard to leave yesterday. but b and i felt good knowing that we helped them get their nursery together before the big day arrives. thanks again j&c for everything!}

wow what a nice sister you are to help get the nursery ready! and how fun to get to go the ultrasound!

the bird mobile is darling & so special so many family members helped to make it.

CUTE HOUSE... i've seen my fair share of military housing & i know it can be hit or miss.

thanks! we really enjoyed putting the finishing touches on the room! the houses around jen's are very similar but they changed the style of them and the colors...so you don't have the same house as your neighbor...it's really nice!
