*country living*

{one of my only magazines left that i love to read
...country living...
...have you seen this month's issue??}
i started to drool over this long island cottage they featured...specifically these two pictures...
{there is something about large hydrangeas that i just LOVE...i have planted five hydrangea bushes in our yard since moving into our house...and only three have survived...i only hope that one day the three that have survived so far...will grow to be as big as these....
did i mention i loved them?!}
{i love these nickel plated chairs! believe it or not these chairs used to be a dull metal finish...the home owner had them refinished in the nickel....nice huh....if only i could find chairs like this oh and have them be within our budget...if only...}

i think i might know why our two dropped dead last summer. they were planted in full sun. oh and did i mention we were in the middle of a drought? i didn't think anything of it because we have a really nice large hydrangea that lives in full sun. but i guess when they are still small..they need shade and some filtered light. oh and lots of water. i think that is how our remaining three have survived. we'll see if they do good this year..my theory may prove me wrong. ;)

so on the topic of hydrangeas ... is it true [or an urban legend] that the SOIL chooses the color? i just don't believe it ... because we have 5 all planted within 7 feet from one another and we have pink, purple & blue. i seriously think it's an urban legend. :)

i LOVE that pic with the double french doors. and the wood with the nickel chairs. and the large metal tray, etc. has me wanting to go thrifting this morning. hmm... libby get your shoes on!
